Why I Hate Survivor

I'm not even sure how many people watch this show anymore, but apparently there is still a following. I have a really hard time getting into Reality TV to begin with. I can't stand the backstabbing, conniving, manipulating and just the general bellyaching and bickering that most cast members are in a constant state of. The Husband likes Survivor, so when he has it on, I'll sit and watch for a bit.

It was a couple of seasons ago now, when Survivor was filmed in the Cook Islands; that's when I first saw Ozzy. This guy dominated. I was completely shocked that he didn't win that season, and to be honest, a little pissed. What little faith I had in the stupid show was lost.

So this season, Survivor brings back some of the show's Favorites versus the Fans. Cool concept, and they got me sorta back. I decided to give it another try, and really got back into it a few weeks ago, because the show had Ozzy in it. He is such a good competitor, and kind of a cutie, so I was rooting for him all along.

Last week he was voted off the show. So bummed! And I have a feeling that the girls that are remaining are going to team up against James now too, so I'm done watching this year. They are all a bunch of useless twits. There, I said it. I never really liked that show much to begin with, and voting out my favorite survivor was the last straw.

I also think that I like Ozzy so much not only because he's a good Survivor player, but because he reminds me of Brett from The Flight of the Conchords, which has to be one of the best shows HBO has put out in a while.

I absolutely love this show, and can't wait for it to come back! This show, entourage and Real Time With Bill Mahr are the only reason HBO is worth keeping. Check the show out sometime if you can. You won't regreat it. I promise.

Hair Shot

I pulled this from Leanne's blog, but it's a better shot of my hair, not a great shot of my face. I'm loving the new 'do. I wish I was a little better at styling it though. Practice makes perfect, eh?

So the bar had $2 champagnes on special. I couldn't resist getting one. I asked Jen and Leanne if they wanted one. They both said "No way. That stuff upsets my stomach." Ok, point taken. I got one anyway. Sipping away, dancing to some tunes, and about ten minutes later I say to Jenny, "Oooh, my stomach hurts." She says "Gee, I wonder why?" (insert heavy sarcasm here, of course) and she nods at my drink.
It was so worth it. I'd do it again.

Administrative Professional's Day

My Little e-mailed me this morning to tell me that she received an iPod Shuffle for Administrative Professional's Day at work. Wow, what an incredible gift!

Then it got me to thinking, "What do the regular employees get?". There's Boss's Day, and there is Admin Professional Day, but what about everybody in between?

It must be like when I was young, and I asked my Dad why there is Father's Day and Mother's Day, but no Kid's Day. The response I received was "Everyday is Kid's Day." (which I now know to be so true).

I guess everyday is Regular Employee's Day too.

Out of Touch

So as my faithful readers know, I went out to the bar last Saturday for my friend's birthday party. We had a blast.

I have to admit, I don't go out like I used to, and clearly I'm out of touch with the kids these days and their outfits. I thought the tank top I wore with a shrug over top and jeans were standard protocol. Boy was I wrong.

On Sunday when I got home I was trying to describe to the Husband this outfit I saw some girl wearing. I was completely shocked by it. All I could think to describe it was that this girl was in her white underwear with a bra on. I couldn't get my camera out of my purse in time to capture the shot, however, Leanne, got one. Since the girl's face isn't really showing, I think I'm safe to post it in my blog. Check this out. I wouldn't have the guts to even attempt this.

So I'm checking my e-mail from home, and after I open the picture up, I call the Husband in to check it out. I say, "You gotta see this! This is what I was telling you about! Nuts, isn't it?" His response, "I don't know about the tube socks with the high heels." I give him a look and say, "That's all that's wrong with this picture?", and we both bust up laughing.

A lot has changed in the last couple of years since I resigned my bar star badge. We'll let Wonder Woman's niece take over from here.

One Year of Wedded Bliss

Happy Anniversary to us! It's been one year today of wedded bliss. I can't believe how fast the time has flown.

It's been a wonderful year, baby. I love you as much today as I did when we exchanged vows. Here's to a lifetime of happiness together!

Happy Birthday, Juniper!

Jenny is one of my oldest friends from high school. We became BFF's sophomore year, and it's been a lot of good times and laughs ever since. On Monday she will say goodbye to her 20's, and join the rest of us old folks in the 30's crowd. I keep telling her that's where all the cool kids hang out. She's really going to like it.

Jen invited me to go out with her and some of her college friends to Tavern on the Square in downtown Lansing on Saturday night. I had never been there, and I have to admit, it's a pretty cool place. They are running with a New England, Colonial kind of theme in there, which was cool. It kind of reminded me of the Cambridge House here in Grand Rapids, which is a favorite past time of mine. Plus when I got there, they were playing an array of reggae music before the DJ started, which is always a bonus in my book. They definitely won cool points for that one.

Happy Birthday, Jenny!

Now That's HIP

Back in February I chopped all of my hair off. Well, it's been eight weeks, and it was time for a touch up. I went shorter this time. This time it's a true Posh hair cut. I have a very dramatic angle, and boy status short in the back (they even had to get the trimmers out for my neck. Eek!) I'll probably nab some photos this weekend or next. I've got a lot of functions coming up...Juniper's birthday, my first wedding anniversary (awww), and another wedding.

I get my hair done at Heidi Christine HIP, the location in the Centerpointe Mall. It's like most hair salons. Expensive. But get this! I go in there last night, and as my girl is foiling up my hair, she starts telling me about this new thing they are doing. Now I'm not sure if there is a catch, like if you have to be getting your hair colored to get the services, because of that wait time you have while the color sets, or if a standard haircut makes the grade (I'm guessing no), but I had my choice of the following services while I waited!
  • Paraffin Wax Treatment for hands
  • Polish change for fingernails
  • Polish change for toenails
  • 10-minute neck and back massage
  • Mini-facial
  • There may have been more, I can't remember now.

So I opted to get my toe polish changed out, and they even did a French manicure. I soaked in the tub and she filed my nails, so a little prep work was definitely done. I'm impressed! Hair services are incredibly expensive these days. The little "extras" definitely help.

I was also informed that they do complimentary bang trims in between cuts, and they will also set up appointments with you to help you learn to style your hair. You bring in your tools and products, they shampoo you up, and then you are taught how to use your stuff. Yeah, I could use a good lesson. I think I finally have mastered the art of backcombing though (about time). Baby steps for the hair challenged.

Kitteh number three.

Sasha, the little lady...

She's our black n' tan. She has two black paw pads and two tan. It's so darn cute.

Oooh, I love sleeping in the clothes basket on clean clothes...gotta keep the tape roller manufacturers in business.

Tayshaun says, "Yeah, I'm totally lurking around the corner...waiting to take that toy from you. Maybe my electric eyes will hypnotize you into submission."

A Successful Trip

We're back! We had a wonderful time! Sunshine + Beach + Ocean = Successful Trip to me!

I thought the Bahamas was a terrific place to visit. The weather is perfect, there is plenty to do for the adventurous or low-key type, and I saw many families with small children there as well. We stayed at the Sheraton Grand Bahama Island Resort. It wasn't a five star facility, but definitely met our needs of a nice, clean place to stay (hey, we're there for the beach, not to hang out in our rooms all day!). All of the rooms come equipped with mini fridges, so we went to the market to pick up breakfast items, snacks and some sandwiches for lunch. We found a couple of nice places for dinner, and just overall enjoyed ourselves and relaxed. It was a perfect one-year anniversary get-away. We took a five-day/four-night trip, which was the perfect amount of time to come back refreshed and recharged.

Here are some shots of us on the beach. I know there are a lot of them, but with water that color, it's hard to choose just one photo!

We had a couple of beers in the hotel room before dinner one evening. Presidente to represent the Dominican Republic, where we went on our honeymoon, and Bahamian beer called Sands. We had dinner on the harbour.

The sunset from our room...

The sunrise on our last morning there...

On the flight home, we got to witness a sunset from the clouds which was pretty cool. Notice the wing of the plane in the picture.

And now we're back home.
